App works seamlessly. Had a question. Support got back with me in less than a hour. Impressed. Oh, they said the HD Video update was coming soon. Cant wait. Well done!!!!

I love this app! I took it to a wedding recently and got some amazing footage without having to spend a ton of time editing it down to take out the parts I didnt want. Saved me tons of time! If you ever have interest in filming anything at all, this is the app for you!

It does what it says but doesnt recording in HD for the iPhone 4. It also doesnt record in the same dimensions as the iPhone 4. Please include this information in the description because it can be a little deceiving. Hopefully, next update will support 720p. Update: now thats what Im talking about! A dev that listens to what their clients want. Thank you for such a fast update on the HD option. Its perfect now!

Works perfectly in all those cases that you want to catch things on video but dont want to just record everything to get just the right moment.

Does what it says and does it well. The new update is great - the app is HD now. Make sure to enable it in your iPhone 4s settings page. Would be nice if the video gallery page rotated to landscape but thats a very minor gripe. Nice app!

Works perfectly. Super handy for catching the baby or dog doing cool things. Already hard to imagine shooting video without Precorder. Plus, I got it at the reduced 99 cent price.

Fantastic for capturing those moments with grandchildren. I missed all of those with my older grandchildren but ran over to my sons house to video my newest grandchild. This replaces the grandparents "Brag Book". What a fantastic idea. Thanks. Jib

Apps like this continue to propel the iPhone forwards. I really dont know if I ever want to use a video recorder without this ability ever again! Its a brilliant concept and super easy to use. At a recent basketball game I was able to walk away with a device full of good clips and no fluff simply by: 1) Setting the precord dial to 8 seconds, anticipating the action and being prepared by tracking the subject with the camera. 2) Wait until a good play is made. 3) Press the record button. The app grabbed the previous 8 seconds of footage and continued recording live footage until I stopped it. With a collection of clips gathered I was then able to toss them into one of the video editing apps offered in the app store (Splice and iMovie are the ones I use) and then with VERY LITTLE trimming required, create a highlight video. Hopefully the next IPhone will include lens with optical zoom but no moving parts like my Panasonic Lumix camera. I could then make this my primary picture and video taking device! Great App.. Get it now before it gets popular and the price goes up!!

Thanks goes to the Devs for this App. I was having trouble installing Precorder within the past few days, sent out an email to Devs and heard back from them in a matter of a couple hours. There suggestions helped me zero in on a problem which I should have noted myself and was no fault of theirs. I had not upgraded to iOS 4.2 yet and only needed to do so for the App to install without a hitch. This review is 4 Stars now based on Devs response alone. I have not been able to thoroughly review the App itself to rate it effectively. I will make an addendum to this review ASAP. So far what I see in functionality looks excellent. Looking forward to playing around with Precorder. Thanks again to Airship Sofware for your quick response and terrific support!

But iTunes wont even let me update the app unless I have 4.2. Please fix it

The built-in video library browser does not work unless location services are turned on. Why? There doesnt seem to be any legitimate reason for this. Also, a previous version crashed and left files on my phone that were unreadable (and undeletable) by iPhoto. I had to use Image Capture to remove them. I just installed an update so perhaps thats been fixed.

This is a very innovative app and I long to replace my native video camera with it. However, Precorder is a wee bit buggy. The big button that controls the precording sometimes gets stuck while it expands. Sometimes it stays expanded and wont shrink again back to the normal size. While the precorder button gets stuck/frozen, all the features including the record button are disabled. So I try to close the app by pressing the home button but that doesnt work either. I was about to shut down my iPhone using the home and lock buttons but the app started saving a video. The big button timer needs to be changed or placed somewhere else because it is too close to the record button. Sometimes I accidentally press record when I want to press the big button to change the precording time. Finally, the touch focus doesnt work when the app is recording. However, It works when the app isnt recording. Im using an iPhone 4 with the most current iOS.

Tested at the Shamu show in Sea World, iPod Touch 4G. This app worked well in capturing the moments the whale jumped out of the water. No guessing required. I do wish for capability of touch exposure as the water is under shadows while background is brightly lit.

I have used it with no problems. Its on my list of top 10 apps to have!

This app is great but it doesnt seem to record as high a quality as the built in video camera on the iPhone 4. For this reason I stopped using it. I am hopping for an update.

Iphone 4 For first few shots works great then app stops... Lost multiple shots.. Not realiable so had to stop using it... Wish it saves as you record.. Only saves after you stop and so you have to wait for it to finish before your next recording.. Any thing over a min never saves.. Please update and will love to try again..

Great idea, but not worth the risk of losing valuable video footage. I have used this recorder two different times for awards presentations for my sons and both times the recorder has not saved the video file: gone -- lost forever. Im not willing to continue using for recording anything valuable to me, thus I simply deleted it off my phone.

A real gem.
